On 21 March, an article by the political scientist and religious scholar at the University of Vienna, as well as an associate member of the EZIRE, Hüseyin Çiçek, was published on the news site Ahval.
In the article, Çiçek addresses the current debates on the integration of Islam and Muslims in European societies. He gives a historical overview of the Islamic influences in Europe and shows, using the example of Austria, that the complex relations between Muslims and non-Muslims in Europe in their common history are characterized by recognition as well as by mutual scepticism and prejudice.
