Martyrdom. A word behind which there are many ambiguities and questions. A word that is always accompanied by the question of the final word on life, a word which cannot be considered alone, but must rather be seen in a network of concepts such as bravery, love, courage, and determination. A word that also asks when one can speak of martyrs. Questions that demand answers, especially in times like these that are marked by various radicalisation processes.

In his article, Hüseyin Çiçek examines the Muslim and Christian criteria of martyrdom and explains the interest of policy-makers.
