Hüseyin Çiçek about the situation in Syria: “The big winner is Russia”
The political scientist Hüseyin Çiçek, associated EZIRE member, commented in articles in The Arab Weekly on October 26 and in the Austrian newspaper Die Presse on October 23 on the Russian-Turkish agreement in Sochi.
He concludes: „The big winner is Russia“. The agreement between the Russian president Wladimir Putin and the Turkish president Recep Tayyip Erdoğan was sealing the loss of influence of the USA in the region.
Moskow was recently putting itself forward as a perdictable partner even to the US-allies in the gulf region, according to Çiçek, political scientist at the Institute for Islamic-Theological Studies at the University of Vienna.
